Terminator 5: Officially Named Genisys. Phil Collins Not Impressed

|

In an Instagram picture posted today by Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator 5 has officially been dubbed Terminator Genisys. After not committing to the typical spelling, Paramount Pictures has now confirmed the unique spelling with an official tweet from the @Terminator account and a new official Instagram account (The Internet: making things official since Facebook relationship statuses were invented). Phil Collins was unavailable to comment on the apparent snub to his classic rock band formed in 1967, Genesis.

Schwarzenegger’s official tweet: Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup – we couldn’t have done it without you. I can’t wait to see our finished project and I know we’ll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I’ll be back.

Many questions have already been brought up about the spelling and how it will relate to the film – .sys is a filename extension for Microsoft Windows and is prevalent in the computer world (hello sys admins, you are getting your own movie title!). Maybe Skynet is up to some computer-related antics. Maybe there is an evil, indestructable systems administrator that is going to take over the world by connecting ALL OF THE CABLES! Personally, I’d pay extra money to see the latter, but either way, Schwartzenegger confirmed that filming has ended and the movie will enter post-production. Paramount has the movie scheduled to be released in theaters on July 1, 2015.

HOW TO: Change system date in OS X ...

Directed by Alan Taylor, Terminator Genisys will feature Arnold Schwarzenegger as that lovable cyborg for the fifth time, along with Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones), Jai Courtney (Divergent), Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), and Matt Smith (The 11th Doctor!).
