A release date for the release date! I know. I’m right there with you wondering what in the actual world (of Warcraft) these people are doing.
However, as if to appease an audience that has had no new content in almost a year, the world premiere of the Warlords of Draenor cinematic trailer will be live streamed at 9:30 am, PDT on Thursday, August 15th, along with an interview with some of the WoW developers and the first episode of Blizzard’s new animated lore mini-series: Lords of War.
Blizzard had originally announced Fall of 2014 as a release date for Warlords of Draenor, and even officially said it would available on or before December 20th – a time frame that caused a small outcry from the WoW community and many speculated was a tongue-in-cheek response to the recurring question. With Beta testing having started over a month ago, and the progression through tested raid content, one can only hope Blizzard won’t make its fans wait too much longer for the fifth World of Warcraft installment. Blizzard had wanted to release a new expansion every year, according to former lead systems designer Greg Street in a November 2013 interview with Digital Spy, however the last expansion, Mists of Pandaria, was released almost two full years ago on September 25, 2012, giving credence to a belief held by some members of the community that Blizzard is hilariously terrible at estimating time (I don’t have a source link for this because if you know, you know, and if you don’t you only have to go to the official boards to see any time estimate for a technical support issue and you’ll see the glorious nerd rage in it’s full, unrelenting state. It’s not pretty folks, stay away for your own good).
