Shenmue Getting A Fan-Made HD Remake – Gorgeous Trailer And Images Emerge

Korean Shenmue fan NcoonKid posted a trailer and screenshots detailing his work on an upcoming fan-made remake of the 1999 Dreamcast classic. Despite heavy demand from fans, we have not seen a Shenmue game since the 2002 Xbox Shenmue II and Sega has not hinted at one coming, even for the game’s 15 year anniversary. But NcoonKid isn’t letting that him stop him from remaking the game himself.

According to his translated YouTube comments, NcoonKid is using the original background modeling that was present in Shenmue, but with all new textures. The model for protagonist Ryo Hazuki has been taken from his appearance in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and worked up in the Unreal Engine. There is also no word on if it will be translated to English.

The original Shenmue was released to great critical acclaim and spawned a dedicated fanbase that still loves the game even after years of silence from SEGA regarding the franchise.  What do you think?  Are you a rabid Shenmue fan gobbling up whatever news you can find?  Do you yearn for a fan-made HD remake? If not, WHY NOT!? Kidding 😉  Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter or email us at contact@moargeek.com.
