Deadline is reporting Universal Pictures is in talks with Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass for one more Jason Bourne film, this one presumably titled The Bourne Resurrection. Universal Pictures, Damon and Greengrass’ representatives declined to comment on the matter.
Word is they would like to go into production soon to make a July 2016 release for the film, but again, pure speculation.
Matt Damon starred in the first three Bourne films, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. Jeremy Renner brought the franchise back in 2012 with The Bourne Legacy and while that film was good on its own, it lacked what people came to expect of a Bourne film, Matt Damon.
Personally I’d love to see another Bourne film and having Matt Damon back in the lead role is probably the only way they could sell this to the public. Word is both Damon and Greengrass are heavily invested in other projects right now making this rumor possibly in the dirt. Depending on their schedules and if they can fit another production in we may not see this film at all. Or it may possibly have a later release date. We just don’t know, but we are excited at the prospect for another Bourne film. Head over to Deadline for some more exclusive content on the matter.Source: Deadline
