Organize Your Wii U Life Into Folders With The 5.2.0 U Firmware Update

Fear not, loyal Wii U owners, for the days of needlessly scrolling through menus has come to an end. With the 5.2.0 U update now available, Nintendo has bestowed upon you the use of folders as well as some other cosmetic changes to the flagship console. It may seem like a small update, but for anyone hoarding virtual console games like they’re going back into a Nintendo vault that doesn’t exist, a quick and easy method of organizing your library of Game Boy Advanced, Super Nintendo, and NES games into color-coded folders is a godsend.

On top of the ability to organize your apps and games to your heart’s content, the needlessly cumbersome Home menu, as well as the usual round of ominous “stability updates” that tag along with software updates nowadays, made their way into 5.2.0 U.

Still not perfect, but definitely an improvement.
Still not perfect, but definitely an improvement.

Word of warning, though. As you’ll notice in the header image up there, if you have a folder name that spans more than one line it will break in the middle of the word and send it to the next line, instead of automatically putting the entire word on the next line like folders have been doing since the dawn of time. If you are a stickler for things lining up and being centered like me, it’s going to drive you insane. One quick and dirty fix is just add the correct amount of spaces before and after each word to line them up. It’d be really awesome for Nintendo to issue a simple fix for this, but I’m not holding my breath.

Why, Nintendo? Why!?
