Pizza Hut Bringing BOOK IT! Program To Hungry Adults For A Limited Time

Celebrating the program’s 30th birthday in the best way possible, Pizza Hut is allowing adults to register as “BOOK IT! Almuni” from now until October 10th and receive a free pizza, just like when they were kids. Whether it was just a bonus of reading every book you could get your grubby little hands on, or the sole reason you forced yourself to read through Harry Potter, BOOK IT! was, and still is, an incentive program to get elementary school kids to read more books, enjoy some free advertising material, and it still holds a special place in the in the heart of many 20- and 30- somethings.

The promotion kicked off on National BOOK IT! Day Wednesday, which also happened to be the still-running program’s 30th anniversary, and is meant to “engage alumni from around the world.” As program manager Shelley Moorehead said in a statement:

“The number one thing we get asked by any adult who went through the program is can we please develop an adult version of the BOOK IT Program. With the creation of the BOOK IT! Alumni page, we now have a destination to celebrate the positive memories that so many kids, now adults, have with the program.”

Just like in those plaid-filled 90’s fall afternoons, you can redeem your BOOK IT! coupon at a local Pizza Hut and walk out with a free one topping pan pizza. Unlike those sucker kids that actually have to read books to get their deliciously unhealthy treat, Pizza Hut’s BOOK IT! Alumni page will generate and send you a coupon just for filling out the form. To be honest, it’s really not much more than a way to scrape your email address and send you some juicy targeted ads since a pan pizza is something they frequently give away for free anyway. It is still a nice move to recognize a program that many adults (including myself) grew up using as kids to gave them even more of a reason to read.
