Want to play a bunch of great games for free? Steam has you covered. Valve issued a press release yesterday detailing the list of ten games that you will be able to spend an unlimited amount of time on over the next four days in what they’re declaring the biggest Steam free weekend ever. Before you get too excited, keep in mind you don’t get the keep the games after the weekend is over, but if you want a chance to try out some great games before you consider dropping hard earned cash on them, now is the time.

STEAM FREE WEEKEND STARTS THURS, OCT 16

October 15, 2014 – The largest “Free Weekend” ever begins tomorrow on Steam. Beginning at 10 am Pacific Time, 10 popular titles will be available to play free of charge, and available for purchase at tremendous savings.

The 10 titles being offered are:
Awesomenauts
Blade Symphony
Company of Heroes 2
Don’t Starve
Grid 2
Injustice
Killing Floor
Payday 2
Trine 2
XCOM: Enemy Unknown

No purchase is required to play any or all of these games all weekend long. All you need is a Steam account (available free of charge).

Steam is a leading platform for PC, Mac, and Linux software and games with over 100 million active accounts worldwide, and offering over 3,700 titles.

If you have somehow missed these (mostly) awesome games since they’ve been available and want a jumping off point, I can’t recommend XCOM: Enemy Unknown enough. Just a fantastic game all around and, even though I got on the bandwagon pretty late, I’m still playing it and its expansion XCOM: Enemy Within to this day. Be warned – if you try XCOM first you may not get around to ever trying the other games at all. It’s addicting as all hell.

No matter what game(s) you decide to try, don’t forget to pick them up at the steep discounts while you can if you want them.
