Cream Bassist Jack Bruce Dead At 71

|

Cream – the band is legendary and their music has left a mark the world over in some way or another. Legendary guitar player Eric Clapton was part of the band and most people probably associate Cream with him and not Jack Bruce. But that is the way of things, guitar players always get the kudos. Jack Bruce, vocals and bass for Cream has passed away at the age of 71.

While most won’t recognize the name, all will recognize the voice and the amazing bass lines he delivered. From legendary hits like Sunshine Of Your Love, Crossroads and White Room, Bruce left his voice and bass firmly tagged in those hits. He was responsible for the success of the band just as much as Clapton or Baker and today we remember his brilliance, his voice and his bass.

One of the first Cream songs I heard as a kid was White Room. I remember listening to it in my brothers car on WCKG Chicago’s Classic Rock Station. The power of that song was amazing and the mysterious lyrics pulled me in from all directions and I fell in love. Check out Cream in 2005 at Royal Albert Hall in the video below and let us know your favorite Cream song in the comments or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
