Keanu Reeves Wanted To Play Batman And Wolverine. Could He Have Pulled It Off?

|

Turns out we all have more in common with Keanu Reeves than we thought. We all want a Bill & Ted sequel that doesn’t suck, we all like Dirty Harry and, most importantly, we all want to be Batman and/or Wolverine. In an exclusive interview with Moviefone, the star of the currently-in-theaters John Wick sat down to talk about all these things and more. During the interview he told Moviefone that he has desired, and tried, to be both The Dark Knight and Wolverine, but was turned down for both roles.

I always wanted to play Wolverine. But I didn’t get that. And they have a great Wolverine now. I always wanted to play The Dark Knight. But I didn’t get that one. They’ve had some great Batmans. So now I’m just enjoying them as an audience.

Sure, it’s fun to take jabs at his annunciation or some of the outlandish roles he has taken in the past, but you’d be hard pressed to find a more down-to-earth movie star than Keanu Reeves. Would he have fit in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight or been a solid replacement for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the half-dozen X-Men movies that prominently featured the mutant? We’ll never know for sure, but let’s take a look at what could have been had he landed both roles.

In short, yes – Keanu Reeves could have played both Batman and Wolverine successfully if given the chance. He’d also make a solid chestburster from Alien too for what it’s worth. So move over Paul Blart: Mall Cop, the lack of Keanu in The Dark Knight is now Hollywood’s biggest failure.
