Everyone’s favorite Internet meme that your mom won’t stop posting pictures of, Grumpy Cat, is officially getting its own Lifetime Movie this Christmas. Titled Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever, the cash grab TV-special will no doubt follow around the internet famous feline as she finds herself in grumpy situations and says grumpy things to Santa Claus. From the trailer, we hear Grumpy Cat (named Tardar Sauce, or ‘Tard’ for short in real life), saying some hilarious lines such as “they don’t even make paintball guns for cats”, “go ahead ignore the title of my movie”, and “jingle bells, Christmas smells.”
We were also treated to some great visuals of Ms. Cat blowing up a house, awkwardly “walking” in front of snowflake wallpaper, and pretending to ride a bike. All of them treated with the same attention to detail you’d expect from a Lifetime original movie based around a cat with sad-looking markings on his face.
Actual TV and movie star Aubrey Plaza got somehow tricked into taking the role of Grumpy Cat once Jane Lynch turned it down, and will be joined by Megan Charpentier, Daniel Roebuck, and Russell Peters. Grumpy Cats Worst Christmas Ever is being penned by long-time Nickelodeon writer and storyboard artist Tim Hill – who is known for Spongebob Squarepants, Kablam!, and Rocko’s Modern Life and making terrible life decisions.
Normally I advocate against watching movie trailers to save yourself from spoiling the movie but, screw it, what could you possibly spoil for a movie based around Grumpy Cat. So here it is – the fruits of all your meme-sharing labors. Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.
