The Daily Mail is reporting that Christoph Waltz has been cast in the next Bond film and will have a significant role when filming starts next month. Anyone who has watched Inglorious Basterds should know what Waltz can be one hell of a villain, and it’s being heavily rumored that he could be the next primary Bond nemesis opposite Daniel Craig – but one different than what we’ve seen in the past.
As Baz Bamigboye for The Daily Mail stated:
However, I am told that the part is a complex one. ‘It’s not immediately evident whether the part’s friend, or foe, or a bit of both,’ a person who has knowledge of the screenplay told me.
This could mean any number of things: such as Waltz being an ally of James Bond who later betrays him, a nemesis that joins the British Secret Service towards the end, or just warrant-less studio hype. Regardless of what the role turns out to be, there is clearly going to be some internal conflict within Waltz’s character, which is something he excels at portraying on screen.
Waltz has taken some different roles as of late, following his fantastic introduction to mainstream American audiences in the aforementioned Inglorious Basterds. He played the charismatic hero in another Tarantino film, Django Unchained, and will be playing the antagonist in Horrible Bosses 2. I understand not wanting to be typecast as the stereotypical villain with a foreign accent, but it is going to be exciting to see him play one again – in a Bond movie no less.
Filming for Bond 24 begins next month with a script reading for the cast, and will span Austria, Morroco, Italy, Mexico, and London. It is set to release in theaters on November 6th, 2015.Source: Daily Mail
