Not content to rest on their recent release of Fibbage for the Xbox One and Playstation 4, Jackbox Games has recently released The Jackbox Party Pack for with even more party fun. The Party Pack brings even more questions to Fibbage, as well as a familiar friend and a few new titles.
As we mentioned in our previous Fibbage review, the best part about these Jackbox Games is that you only need a smartphone or tablet to join in on the fun once the game is launched on a console or PC. Simply fire up the game, then connect to jackbox.tv on your mobile device and away you go. The Jackbox Party Pack contains 5 party games which support anywhere between 1-100 players (depending on the game). If you don’t have enough players in your living room or basement, fire up a Twitch stream and let others from around the globe join in the fun. In our Jackbox Party Pack review, I’ll take a look at each of the available games, rate them separately then provide a final rating for the entire Party Pack at the end.
YOU DON’T KNOW JACK 2015 (1-4 Players)
The popular You Don’t Know Jack quiz show format trivia game series, nearing it’s 20th anniversary, makes its debut on next-gen consoles in this pack. Host Cookie Masterson makes his return with his hilarious quips and side comments throughout. There’s plenty of questions as the game contains 50 episodes, so there’s no shortage of content here. Masterson really makes the game with his comments, YDKJ wouldn’t be the same without him. The Jack Attack mode keeps you on your toes as you don’t have much time to choose the correct word which matches a given topic as it quickly flies towards you. By far the longest “matches” of the games in here, be prepared to spend a little time for each episode.

Fibbage XL (2-8 Players)
If you missed our Fibbage review, head on over and check it out as there isn’t much point re-hashing it here. Having an increase of over 50% more questions than Fibbage, Fibbage XL extends the initial fun of the stand alone release even further. It’s still fun trying to get your friends and opponents to try and pick your wacky answer over the usually unbelievable correct answer.
Fibbage XL Score: 9/10
Drawful (3-8 Players)
Drawful is a take on Win, Lose or Draw in that players quickly draw on their devices based on sets of words which appear on screen. Players then try to guess what the others drew and then everyone chooses from that group of guesses. As you can imagine, there’s a wide variety of drawing talent around and drawing using your finger on a smartphone doesn’t exactly produce masterpieces. While fun, you’d definitely have a leg up if you use a tablet or phablet with a stylus of some sort.
Drawful Score:8/10
Word Spud (2-8 Players)
Where to start with Word Spud except… wow at some of the word associations people come up with! The game is a simple game in which a partial word shows up on the screen and a randomly selected player gets to finish it. Players vote on how good or bad the word is and play carries on to the next person using the completed part of the previous word. Word Spud is a lot of fun and can definitely get raunchy quickly depending on who’s playing. This game is best played with people you know though, as it’s easy just to vote negatively to keep others from getting points.
Word Spud Score: 8/10
Lie Swatter (1-100 Players)
Lie Swatter plays quick and hosts up to 100 players. I’m not sure where you’d be that you’d have 100 other people playing, but the Party Pack plays decently enough via Twitch once you get used to the on screen delay. It’s pretty easy to get a lot of people playing in here, and the fun part about Lie Swatter is that anyone can join or leave at any time. This game is a simple truth or lie answer format based on trivia that appears on the screen and plays quickly. Having the option to drop in and out as you please is great as well.
Lie Swatter Score: 9/10
Summary
Overall, The Jackbox Party Pack is more than worth the price of admission, especially if you’re frequently hosting people at your house. While there’s not much to these games, the simplicity makes it fun and easy for anyone to pick up and join in the fun. Jackbox Games does a great job of making a computer game not feel like a computer game. There’s enough variety that it will be a while before you see every question or clue across all the games that you’ll be enjoying the Party Pack for quite some time. Because of the diversity of games, number of supported players, and the fact that anyone with a tablet or mobile device can play, The Jackbox Party Pack is a party game well worth picking up.
