Hungry Pac-Man fans will soon be able to nom their way over to the Woodfield Mall in the Chicagoland area and partake in some high-end, fine dining courtesy of Level 257.
Scheduled to open in early 2015 in time to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the iconic game on March 22nd, Level 257 will seat 180 guests and offer chef-prepared dishes courtesy of Corporate Executive Chef Aaron Whitcomb and Executive Chef Bradley Godinez, according to the restaurant’s Tumblr page.
The name Level 257 is, naturally, a play on the original Pac Man having only 255 normal levels with 256 as a bonus level. The restaurant will be taking Pac Man to “the next level of entertainment” according to David Bishop, executive vice president of stregic project development for Namco.
The restaurant will not only be themed after Pac Man but will also feature a variety of gaming options from retro-style bowling, table tennis, pinball machines, board games and will even house a “Games Lounge” filled with both new and classic game machines, obviously including Pac Man.
While the restaurant is chock with gaming and gaming themes, Bishop wants the venue to be known for its food. Additionally, Level 257 will be aimed at an adult audience, though Bishop understands kids will want to be there and wants parents to feel comfortable taking the whole family. The vision, according to the restaurant’s Tumblr page:
