Avatar: The Legend of Korra, the popular follow up to the critically acclaimed Avatar: The Last Airbender, is bringing its final season to DVD and Blu-Ray this March. Following the adventures of Avatar Korra as she tries to maintain peace in a world that seems to be growing more and more complicated, the series has been well loved by fans.
Legend of Korra has had a shaky past with its network, Nickelodeon, and for a while fans of the show were wondering if they were ever going to get a fourth season. Barely mentioned air times changes, a sudden switch to ‘online only’ release, and significant budget cuts were some of the challenges faced by the show. But in true Avatar fashion, Legend of Korra creators rose to the challenge.
The show’s finale got some attention last year by being the first cartoon marketed to children to portray a romantic relationship between two women. While they were not allowed to show anything even as obvious as an on-screen kiss, the show very heavily hinted at a relationship between Korra and Asami, and it ended with them about to embark on an adventure together. Both writers of the show, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino posted messages to their respective Tumblr blogs (See Konietzko’s here and DiMartino’s here) to inform fans that a romantic relation between them was a part of the show’s official canon.
Avatar: The Legend of Korra’s final season, Balance, has a release date of March 10th. Details on special features included have not yet been released.Source: IGN
