Billy Dee Williams Returning As Lando Calrissian In Star Wars Rebels

|

Billy Dee Williams will be returning for his iconic role as Lando Calrissian on an episode of Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels later this month. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Williams will be playing the galaxy’s smoothest talking back-stabbing space pirate in an episode that has him plotting to trade Hera for “secret cargo.”

Zeb loses the droid Chopper to Calrissian in a game of cards, and the crew of the Ghost agrees to help him make a dangerous run to get their astromech back. But when Lando plots a scheme to trade Hera for secret cargo, “the crew gets far more than it bargained for.”

Being that Rebels is a prequel to the original trilogy, Calrissian will be slightly younger and less experienced than the magnificent cape-wearing Lando the world swooned over in 1980. Entertainment Weekly also posted a video that shows some clips from his appearance on the show, as well as some behind the scenes footage.
Williams isn’t the first Star Wars veteran to voice his character in the original show, either. James Earl Jones appeared briefly in a cold opening scene during the ABC’s airing of Spark of Rebellion in October, and Anthony Daniels voiced C-3PO in the Rebels’ first episode, “Droids in Distress.”
The episode featuring Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian will air on January 19th on Disney XD at 9PM EST.
