Orange Is The New Black's Taylor Schilling And Others Testing For Deadpool's Female Lead

It wasn’t long ago that a Deadpool movie had no chance to even happen, and now we’re already talking about who is going to play opposite Ryan Reynolds in the film. While nothing is solidified yet, there is a short list of actresses currently testing for the role, as reported by Deadline.
Morena Baccarin, who plays Dr. Leslie Thompkins on FOX’s Gotham, is up for the role, as is Vikings star Sarah Green, Arrow’s Jessica De Gouw, and Orange is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling.
Along with playing the love interest of Jim Gordon on Gotham, Baccarin also played the struggling widow on Showtime’s hit show Homeland from 2011 to 2013, and also has a voice role in the upcoming animated project Malevolent.
Orange is the New Black’s leading actress Taylor Schilling is also in the running, having brilliantly played the inmate Piper Chapman on the Netflix-exclusive show. Landing the female lead in Deadpool opposite Ryan Reynolds would arguably be her biggest movie role since 2012’s Argo where she played Christine Mendez.
dplorksaWho any of these actresses would play is still up in the air. Deadpool doesn’t have a long history of being successful with the ladies, unless of course you count his ex-wife Orksa. But for some reason I don’t think Taylor Schilling or Morena Baccarin could pull off playing the gigantic four-eyed alien. With the limited selection of Marvel heroes that Sony has available to them, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the female lead be a made-up character for the sake of giving Wade a love interest.
The Deadpool movie is set to be released in 2016, and production seems to be going along smoothly to this point. It will star Ryan Reynolds (who seems to be extremely excited for the projected), and be directed by Tim Miller.
