Latest Cinderella Trailer Brings Classic Scenes To Life

|

The latest trailer for the live-action version of Walt Disney’s 1950 classic Cinderella shows clips of scenes reminiscent of iconic moments from the original cartoon. The film is set hit theaters on March 13.
The trailer includes some major details that echo the visual effects from Disney’s animated incarnation of the fairy tale released over half a century ago. Most notably, the magical blue ball gown, the appearance of Prince Charming and the legendary glass slipper are shown to add the right amount of nostalgia to this new adaptation.
Another interesting thing about the preview for Cinderella is the fact that it appears that Ella isn’t immediately enamored by the young prince. While most previous versions of the tale show women theoretically swooning at the sight of him, the trailer’s display of a more independent title character is certainly a modern, more feminist friendly trope.

The film sports a star-studded cast, which includes Downton Abbey‘s Lily James as Cinderella, Cate Blanchett as the evil step mother Lady Tremaine and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, who recently directed a film about another famous Disney property Thor, this story will closely follow the 1950 version which is based of the tales of the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault.
Cinderella follows the latest trend of live-action adaptations of classic children’s stories and cartoon movies that includes Snow White and The HuntsmanMaleficent and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.
