Commemorating the fact that Deadpool will finally release one year from today, Ryan Reynolds teased his Twitter followers with a first glimpse at the new Deadpool costume he’ll be wearing when he portrays the merc with a mouth on the big screen for the second time.
From what little can be seen in the image, it looks as is if it’ll be visually similar to the CGI Deadpool that was seen in the test footage that leaked last year. Reynolds, who continues to convince me that he is the human incarnation of Wade Wilson, also joked that the mask is actually “ballerina pink.”
Sepia tone disguises the fact the mask is ballerina pink. It’s early. 365 sleeps early. #deadpool #prototypes pic.twitter.com/PekFa2KS7S— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) February 12, 2015
Reynolds has been excited for the Deadpool project for some time now. Just like week in an interview with MTV he admitted that it wasn’t him who leaked the test footage, but he wished he would have. It was that leaked footage, which this new mask appears to draw inspiration from, that helped push fan interest enough to get the film greenlit by 20th Century Fox.
Prior to giving us our first look at 2016 Deadpool’s costume (a week ago, to be exact), Reynolds also promoted another recent film of his, The Voices, which he jokingly calls the “perfect prelude to Deadpool.”
Jet black comedy. Perfect prelude to Deadpool. Excited to hear what you guys think of The Voices. Out tomorrow on VOD and select theaters! — Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) February 6, 2015
Deadpool releases one year from today, February 12, 2016. The film will be directed by Tim Miller and stars Ryan Reynolds. Casting for a female co-star is still underway, with Gotham’s Morena Baccarin, Orange is the New Black‘s Taylor Schilling, and Arrow’s Jessica De Gouw on the shortlist.
