A DuckTales Reboot Is Coming To Disney XD In 2017

|

Disney XD announced today that they have ordered a new series based on the Emmy-winning DuckTales that aired from 1987 to 1990. The reboot will once again follow the well-known cast of characters made up of the greedy Scrooge McDuck his grandnephews Huey, Dewie, and Louie, and the iconic quacker himself, Donald Duck.
Aside from just having the catchiest damn theme song ever, the original DuckTales was beloved by children and adults alike for its grand sense of adventure, smart humor, and a fantastic art style that still holds up to this day. There were also a bevy of side characters that made appearances throughout the show’s original run, many of whom will also be returning for this reboot. Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys, and more are all expected to appear.
This announcement comes on the heels of news that The Powerpuff Girls are getting their own reboot as well, with the trio of sugar-coated heroes expected to return to their Cartoon Network home next year. Another beloved cartoon – Invader Zim – is being made into a comic book releasing this July. Not that remakes and reboots have ever slowed down, but there’s seem to be a surge in reboots aimed at those born in the mid- to late-’80s as they all begin to enter child-bearing age and are starting to look for cartoons to introduce their kids to.
And of course, because I’m sure it’s stuck in your head by now, here’s the original intro from all those years ago:
