As it was announced back in January, The Elder Scrolls Online has officially dropped its monthly subscription cost today with the release of the Tamriel Unlimited update. PC and Mac players who have been shelling out $14.99 a month for the ability to play The Elder Scrolls Online up to this point will find their client updated today, and any new players who want to hop into the game can do so for only the $59.99 cost of the game itself with no monthly commitment.
If you are still very much invested in the world of Elder Scrolls Online and wish to continue paying the $14.99 monthly free, doing so will grant you an ESO Plus membership. Any player who has auto-renewal on for their accounts will be given the same benefit until they decide to cancel, should they no longer want the added benefits of membership. ESO Plus members will receive in-game bonuses such as a 10% boost to XP and gold gain, crafting research, and inspiration. On top of that, they also receive an allotment of the new in-game currency, crowns, to spend in the Crown Store. All downloadable content that has come out in the past and comes out in the future will also be made available to ESO Plus members without an additional cost for the duration of their membership.
Bethesda celebrated the release with a brief trailer detailing how the game has improved since its initial PC launch in March of last year. An Xbox One and PlayStation 4 port of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unliminted is slated to be released on June 9th.Source: Bethblog
