First Mockingjay Part 2 Teaser Shows The Evolution Of The Hunger Games' Most Iconic Symbol

|

The final Hunger Games film is still months away, but we have our first hint of it in the form of this Mockingjay Part 2 teaser showing the evolution of iconic Mockingjay symbol. Playing audibly along with the thundering music and the visual representation of the symbol evolving is a series of quotes from the movies that have become iconic since the first one was released back in 2012.
Throughout promotional material for each movie, the Mockingjay symbol has changed dramatically, going from the tamed and meek bird that it’s based off of, to the imposing phoenix-like bird it has become for Mockingjay Part 1 and Mockingjay Part 2. As the voiceovers that play during the brief teaser would imply, these changes in the symbol are reflected in the main character, Katniss, as she goes from a family-oriented member of an oppressed society to one of the warriors bringing the whole establishment down.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 brought in “only” $337.1 million domestically, making it the lowest grossing of the three Hunger Games films, following Catching Fire’s $424.7 million and the first Hunger Games’ impressive $408.1 million. Nothing is set in stone yet, but there are rumors that Mockingjay Part 2 may not be the final Hunger Games film after all, as Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed that the studio has an interest in creating more movies based off of the popular franchise.
