First Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice Trailer Officially Released

|

Warner Bros. Pictures has officially released the first Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, after blurry smartphone footage of it leaked online earlier in the week. The two-minute trailer shows us a lot of what we’ve come to expect from the film, plus some glimpses of the new look Batman armor, glowstick eyes and all.

Following the events of Man of Steel (presumably a result of the billions of dollars worth of damage he caused), citizens of Earth are not happy with their new found God, as several voice overs tell during the trailer’s opening. Somewhere in the mix Batman comes along, this time played by Ben Affleck, and sets up the confrontation between the DC Comics superheroes. His voice has a similar growly tone that it did in the Christopher Nolan trilogy, but sounds like it’s being put through a synthesizer.

Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder was the first to release the new trailer through a post on his Twitter along with hashtags rallying against the blurry pirated footage that was already been cicrulating around social media. He also added, in a seperate Tweet, that IMAX theater goers will be the first to see a special IMAX edition of the trailer that features “a few extra shots plus a little swag.”

Joining the two titular characters for Batman v Superman will be a bevy of DC staples including Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Batman, and Superman are all slated to have solo films in the coming years as part of DC’s expansive cinematic push to compete with rival Disney-owned Marvel.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to release March 25, 2016 and is directed by Zack Snyder.
