Avengers: Age of Ultron Breaks U.K. Box Office Records

|

There’s no doubt that the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to be huge once it hits North American theatres this weekend. The movie launched overseas this past weekend and is already breaking records.

The second installment of Marvel’s Avengers series knocked Furious 7 from the top spot and in the process beat Fifty Shades of Grey as the top U.K. opening for 2015 with a haul of $27.3 million. In addition, that also put the movie as the biggest superhero opening of all time in the U.K., as well as the biggest April opening for a movie, and the eighth biggest opening ever in the U.K.. Saturday’s box office draw of $9.4 million was also the best day for a superhero movie, and also a best single day box office take for a Disney movie.

In the followup to the 2012 blockbuster Avengers, Tony Stark must once again join forces with the rest of the Avengers in saving the Earth as they team up against Ultron who is obsessed with rendering humankind extinct. Avengers: Age of Ultron also introduces  Marvel characters Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch

Who knows what other records we’ll see Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the rest of the Avengers: Age of Ultron crew smash once it hits more theatres this weekend, but it’s sure to be a fun ride!
