It’s the announcement many of you have been waiting for! Today, Oculus VR announced on their official blog that consumers can expect to have the Oculus Rift headset in their hands in Q1 2016! The company also gave us a sneak peek of what the consumer model should look like when it comes out as well, and it is much more polished than the Crescent Bay prototype we got to try out back at PAX East.

Along with these pictures, Oculus VR stated that there would soon be discussions on things like hardware, software, and input coming very soon. According to the blog post, some discussions about the specifications of the new consumer model will be released as soon as next week.

Unfortunately though, there has been little mention of a price point, although Oculus has discussed before that they’re shooting for the $200-$400 range. In a conference earlier at TechCrunch Disrupt, Nate Mitchell, Oculus’ vice president of product, said that it’s “a little bit more expensive” than the Gear VR, which is $200.

Not only will we be talking about the hardware and software, Oculus apparently has some made-for-oculus games that they’ve been hiding up their sleeves. If these games are anything like the demo of EVE: Valkyrie, color me excited.

The coming weeks will be filled with small snippets of news trickling out of Oculus’ blog, so stay tuned here, and in the mean time, you can oogle these pictures of the new Rift, just like I know I will be.
