|

Who hasn’t played PAC-MAN or, for that matter, Ms.PAC-MAN? It’s one of the world’s iconic pop culture symbols and is readily recognized by most. PAC-MAN was born in Tokyo, Japan 35 years ago and Namco, the company that owns PAC-MAN, is throwing a celebration at it’s new Level 257 entertainment center in Chicago. The event is set for Friday, May 22nd, and Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 in Chicago and general admission to the event on Friday is free and includes all gameplay and bowling for free, a DJ and live performances and competitions. There is a VIP ticket available for $35 that will get you in early as well as food, drink, face time with insiders and some swag.

For one extravagant weekend, Level 257™invites PAC-MAN™ fans to join them in celebrating the legendary video game in 1980’s style. Free bowling and games await PAC-Fans all day Friday and a special event on Friday evening from 7pm-midnight will include gaming industry VIP’s, DJ and live performances of the 1982 hit song “PAC-MAN Fever” by the original artist, Jerry Buckner of Buckner & Garcia. Bowling, table tennis, air hockey, classic video games and of course, PAC-MANTM will all be free to play. Prestigious Chicago bakery Toni Patisserie will present the official birthday cake to PAC-MANTM.

The celebration will kick off with a media panel discussion on Friday, May 22nd at 2pm, featuring notable players and celebrities in the history and future of PAC-MANTM, including Professor Toru Iwatani, leader of NAMCO’s development team for the original PAC-MANTM game and currently featured as a character in Sony Pictures’ upcoming movie Pixels. There will be another panel, followed by meet and greets, solely for fans on Saturday, May 23rd at 11:30am. Among these industry luminaries are Billy Mitchell (e-sports icon and the first person to chomp up a perfect score on the PAC-MANTM arcade game), Walter Day of Twin Galaxies, and other special guests to be announced. Media and fans will get the answers to questions they’ve always dreamed of asking and gain behind-the-scenes insider knowledge.

Sure seems like it’s going to be a fun time and if you’re in the area you might think about checking it out.
