Awhile ago our sister site took a look at console modder Eddie Zarick’s PS4/Xbox One combo laptop dubbed the PLAYBOX. Not content to rest on his laurels, Zarick has upped the ante with an improved model he calls the PLAYBOX 4One Mk II.
After releasing video of his PLAYBOX, Zarick had many requests for custom builds and looked into what it would take to build more. The main difference between the previous version and the Mk II is screen size, partly due to the scarcity of the 22″ Vizio screens he used in the original model. When Wayne Brady, yes that Wayne Brady, contacted him requesting a unit, Zarick looked into supplies some more and decided to use a 24″ Vizio 1080p LED LCD Smart Monitor – which in turn allows for a bigger base and more ventilation.
We’ll let Eddie walk you through the box in his own words in the video below.
As you can see, like the last version, the PLAYBOX 4One Mk II contains a fully functioning, non-modded PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with smart switching HDMI and an (optional) external HDMI port for connecting to a larger TV. While this is a laptop style console mod, you’ll need to run it plugged in, so don’t expect to be able to take this on the go with you and grab a little Call of Duty action while riding the subway to work.
The PLAYBOX 4One Mk II isn’t cheap though and will set you back $2,595.00USD, or $1,995USD if you provide your own systems. If you’re still interested, you can order one on the PLAYBOX 4One Mk II website, plunk down a $1200 non-refundable deposit and wait at least 2-3 weeks for Eddie to build you your own custom box. You can choose between black and white, as well as customize the color of the corner bumpers if you wish.
