There’s only four days left until you can get caught up on the newest misadventures of Piper, Alex, Red, Crazy Eyes, Flaca, Pennsatucky, and all the rest of your favorite inmates on Orange is the New Black Season 3. Coming to Netflix on June 12th, Season 3 continues to explore the tenuous relationship between Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex (Laura Prepon) as Alex returns to prison after violating her parole.
The newest vignette, released today by Netflix shows a more vulnerable side to Alex, who has always presented a very strong front, particularly around Piper. You can check out the video below:
Further complicating matters, a new inmate – Ruby Rose as Stella Carlin – seems to have her sights and affections set squarely on Piper, setting up some friction and conflict as the season draws on.
Also returning for Season 3 is Lori Petty, who we last saw briefly in Season 2. Her character has been transferred to Litchfield, which seems quite a lot better than the surroundings she is used to. Taryn Manning’s Pennsatucky quickly reminds her that it is still, in fact, prison and that she really shouldn’t be so excited. I’m excited to see further interaction between these two characters as I think that they should really liven things up. For a show about prison, Orange is the New Black is often more light-hearted than you might expect, but it’s always good to have some definite comic-relief. Taryn Manning has already proven she can play her role exceptionally well, so Lori Petty should be able to simply play off of that established character.
