Young Anakin Skywalker Arrested After High Speed Police Chase

|

Well it looks like Anakin Skywalker’s podracing days couldn’t help him outrun South Carolina police here on Earth. Seems Jake Lloyd, the actor who played Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, led police on a high speed chase which ended with him running his car off the road and into the woods. According to the police Lloyd, who legally changed his name to Jake Broadbent, was being pulled over for an unstated reason and instead of pulling over he sped up. He is now being held in Colleton County Detention Center near Charleston on $10,700 bond.Booking Photo Anakin Skywalker

The chase occurred after officers attempted to pull over Broadbent but he instead sped up and started passing cars and “driving in a reckless manner … and endangering the safety of the motoring public,” according to the statement.

There was no report on why police were pulling Broadbent over for in the first place, nor is there any report on why he decided to flee instead of pulling over. Broadbent’s biggest role was Anakin in The Phantom Menace but he was also in a few other films like Jingle All The Way with Arnold Schwarzenegger and his last role in 2005 was a movie called Madison. It’s not uncommon for child stars to have a huge hit maybe two and then fall off the radar. It’s obvious that Broadbent wanted to stay out of the limelight by changing his name but getting arrested for leading police on high speed chase is not staying out of the limelight.
