Let’s face it, who doesn’t like a good shoot ’em up now and again? With games like Call of Duty and Battlefield topping the charts many gamers will have experienced at least a taste of what it’s like to be in combat. 11 bit studios is aiming to change that perception with their new Android and iOS game, This War of Mine.
In war, not everyone is a soldier. This War of Mine captures war as experienced by the civilians trying to survive in a besieged city. Scavenge amid the shadows, make conscience-driven choices of life and death, and do what you must to live another day.
In the game, instead of playing as a soldier, you control a group of civilians trying to survive. Venturing outside for supplies during the day could be deadly as snipers prevent you from moving freely so it’s better to focus on maintaining your hideout. At night, you can take your civilians on missions to scavenge for the necessities you need to stay alive.
During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.
In addition to developing the game, 11 bit studios is a supporter of and recently donated $65,000 to War Child, an organization dedicated to protecting, educating, and giving voice to the children affected by conflict.
This War of Mine is available today on iOS and Android tablets for $9.99 during the first week ($14.99 normally). The game was released on Steam back in November, and is available now for $19.99.
