It’s sequel season in Hollywood. Franchises are being milked till their udders run dry and chafe and bleed. Next up at the milking parlor is the highest grossing franchise of all time – Harry Potter. Warner Bros. Pictures has begun filming Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them, originally a book by the same name written by J.K. Rowling under the pseudonym Newt Scamander. The movie is being shot in  Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, England.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is mentioned in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Sorcerer’s Stone to everybody in the US). The book follows Newt Scamander, a master magizoologist, as he makes a pit stop at New York to document the magical creatures he’d encountered on his travels. The book is compulsory reading for Hogwarts students. Eddie Redmayne plays the lead character. It will be interesting to see how the Australian actor’s graph in Hollywood goes after winning the Academy Award for playing Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. Also part of the cast are Katherine Waterston of Inherent Vice; Tony Award-winning actor Dan Fogler; and Ezra Miller from Trainwreck.

Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them is the first time J.K Rowling will get screenwriting credits. David Heyman, who produced all of the eight Harry Potter movies, is a producer for the film. Steve Kloves, Lionel Wigram, and J.K. Rowling herself are also producers on the project. David Yates, a veteran of four Harry Potter movies, directs.

Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them is set in the 1920s, which is when Scamander conducts and writes about his research of magical creatures. There isn’t much else about the book in the Harry Potter series. It was announced back in 2013 that the movie would be the first in a new trilogy. Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them gets a worldwide release November 18, 2016.
