While Xbox One backwards compatibility allowing gamers to play Xbox 360 games is just getting underway, it’s possible Microsoft is looking to go even further backwards. When asked on Twitter about the possibility of playing original Xbox games on the Xbox One, Phil Spencer (head of Xbox) had an interesting reply:
@HadleeSimons I don’t think it’s silly. I ask the BC team this question a lot. Need to finish 360 BC for now.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) August 19, 2015
First, it’s great that Spencer is responding directly to gamer comments on Twitter – this isn’t the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last. Second, I’m sure a lot of people would have dismissed this request but it appears that the thought is already on Spencer’s mind. Obviously a lot of work still needs to be done with the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility on the Xbox One before the team even thinks about hitting up original Xbox backwards compatibility but that would definitely be something interesting to see happen.
So if you’ve still got a few of those old game discs kicking around, you just might want to hang on to them for awhile longer just in case.
If orginal Xbox backwards compatibility does come some day, what game would you be looking forward to playing the most? Have you been taking advantage of the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
