Bruno Mars To Perform At The Super Bowl Halftime Show Again?

|

In an annual tradition that has brought the world countless iconic moments such as accidental nudity, left shark and the unholy trinity of Britney Spears, Aerosmith and NSYNC, it appears that the NFL is going for a safe bet. Bruno Mars has been asked to perform at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show.

Bruno Mars previously performed at the show two years ago, bringing the Red Hot Chili Peppers on stage with him. His performance was the most watched performance in the history of the big game’s intermission before being surpassed by Katy Perry, who was accompanied by Missy Elliot and the aforementioned shark suit clad dancers.

According to Billboard, the NFL has invited Bruno Mars back to perform and “curate” the game’s 50th birthday edition of the halftime show. It may come as strange for the Super Bowl’s Golden anniversary to be headlined by an artist that had already performed at the show, let alone someone who had performed so recently.

While Mars was a major star at the time, his stock has risen even further after being featured in Mark Ronson’s hit single Uptown Funk that spent fourteen consecutive weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100. If you owned a car, walked into a store, or worked in a place that played public radio, odds are you’ve heard the song multiple times.

Since he is being asked to “curate” the show this time, around, it is likely that Mars has been tasked with assembling a slew of other popular musical acts to take the stage as well. This being Super Bowl 50, it is expected that the NFL and Bruno Mars will pull out all the stops to make the show into a success.
