The return of music peripheral games is just around the corner, and Mad Catz has started shipping Rock Band 4 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles to retailers ahead of its October 6th launch.

Announced earlier this year, Mad Catz and Harmonix are working together to bring the once popular game genre to current generation consoles, while maintaining support for wireless instruments and music tracks from last-gen console versions.

“Since announcing Rock Band 4 earlier in the year, we have been highly focused on working alongside Harmonix, first party platform partners and our global retail partners to ensure a timely delivery of the game and its hardware and software bundles ahead of launch,” said Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz.  “We’re thrilled with the positive feedback the game and our Rock Band 4 wireless game controllers have received from gamers, press and throughout the industry. We can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on Rock Band 4 and look forward to welcoming a new generation of gamers to the Rock Band experience.”

Rock Band 4 will be available in 3 different variations:

  • Rock Band 4 video game, stand-alone software;
  • Band-in-a-Box Bundle™, which includes the Rock Band 4 game, a Wireless Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller, a Wireless Drum Kit Controller and a Microphone; and
  • Guitar Bundle, which includes the Rock Band 4 game and a Wireless Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller.

Built upon the core Rock Band experience, the game also introduces new features like Freestyle Guitar Solo which allows players to craft their own original guitar solos.
