Move Over Idris Elba, Damian Lewis Could Be The Next 007

|

With Spectre due out in November, many are speculating that this could be Daniel Craig’s last outing as the famed British spy. Rumours have so far indicated that Idris Elba could be pegged to play James Bond next, but new rumours from Britain’s Sunday Mirror suggest that Damian Lewis has been given “the unofficial nod” to succeed Craig as 007.

Craig has indicated that he may be ready to step down after his 4th Bond film. When previously asked if he would be interested in doing one more Bond movie, Craig replied

“At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see.”

A source told The Sunday Mirror that Damian Lewis is the first choice if Daniel Craig decides to step aside.

“If Daniel Craig leaves, it’s Damian Lewis who will be crowned the new Bond.

He is seen as an all-round international star who is perfect for the role. As he ages, he looks increasingly suave and sophisticated.

Daniel excels in the role and there is no pressure on him to step down. But if he does, people close to Damian have had an unofficial nod he is the number one choice.”

Damian Lewis has been in plenty of roles, and is one of Hollywood’s most underrated actors. He first gained success in Steven Spielberg’s Band of Brothers as Lt./Maj./Capt. Richard Winters, appeared in The Forsythe Saga and then Life before portraying Sgt. Nicholas Brody in Homeland, a drama series which followed a U.S. Marine after he returns home from eight years of captivity in Iraq.
