Last month we started a new series here on MOARGeek, giving you a comprehensive list of what’s new in our “New on Netflix Canada” article. We continue this month, and have added a “New on Netflix US” list as well for those using Netflix in the US. Without further ado, let’s dive in and see what’s New on Netflix Canada for the month of October!
Netflix Originals
It’s a pretty big month for Netflix Originals. This month the much anticipated Beasts of No Nation starring Idris Elba follows a young West African boy as he is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters and is transformed into a child soldier. Beasts of No Nation debuts on Netflix Canada on October 16th.
Fans of Hemlock Grove, starring Famke Janssen, Landon Liboiron, and Dougray Scott will be able to dive into the third season of this horror drama which takes place in the town of Hemlock Grove. Season 1 and 2 are currently available on Netflix for those wishing to catch up before Season 3 drops on October 23rd. This will be the final season of the show, so be sure to “savor every last drop” of Hemlock Grove while you can.
A documentary about the 2014 violent revolution in the Ukraine lands on Netflix October 9th. Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom follows 93 days in what started as peaceful student demonstrations and turned into a revolution that caught the world’s attention.
Rounding out the Netflix Originals for October are Scream Season 1 as the teen scream horror classic returns in this series based on the popular movie series on October 1st, and two comedy specials: Anjelah Johnson: Not Fancy (October 2nd) and Anthony Jeselnik: Thoughts and Prayers (October 16th).
Netflix Original Series for Kids
King Julien is back! All Hail King Julien, Madagascar’s booty-shaker King Julien takes on the jungle’s craziest adventures when the second season drops on October 16th.
Two new Netflix Original Series for Kids debut this month as well. In The Peabody and Sherman Show (produced in association with Dreamworks), Mr. Peabody and Sherman host a zany late-night comedy show from a swanky penthouse, with time-traveling guests and a live audience. Younger kids are sure to love the adorable Popples. Best Popples Pals love helping their friends and neighbours, but every time they do it seems to backfire in hilarious ways. The Peabody and Sherman Show debuts October 9th, while The Popples will air on October 30th.
Exclusively on Netflix
A trio of titles available exclusively on Netflix this month include Pentatonix: On My Way Home (October 13th) which follows the self-proclaimed “choir nerds” on their sold-out 2015 tour, Circle (October 16th) – in which a group of strangers are seized and await execution, they face the impossible task of choosing the one person among them worthy of being spared, and Manson Family Vacation (October 27th) in which the pleasant family life of an L.A. attorney is disrupted by the sudden arrival of his brother, who is obsessed with the Charles Manson murders.
