Hasbro Confirms Four More Transformers Sequels

|

In news that the public has surely been clamoring for, Hasbro Studios president Stephen J. Davis confirmed that the company has laid out the plans for Transformers 5, 6, 7 and 8. The franchise’s currently untitled fifth installment is set to begin filming in early 2016 and will be scheduled to be released sometime in 2017.

During the Q&A session of the MIP Junior Conference 2015, where he was the keynote speaker, Davis revealed that the writers room assembled by Hasbro had laid out enough material that the team could easily map out four more sequels.

“You’re going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners,” Davis, said to the audience at the conference. “In fact, we just finished — as some of you may have read — an incredible experience. We decided we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a 3 month period of time…nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with — shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind, and written a bunch of great movies. And they plotted out the next ten years of Transformers. Similarly we are doing the same in television and digital. So stay tuned Transformers 5 is on its way. …And 6 and 7 and 8.”

That group of writers include a few with some very impressive credits to their name. In addition to the Oscar award winning Goldsman, the group includes The Walking Dead‘s Robert Kirkman, Ant-Man writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Jeff Pinkner of Lost, Lindsey Beer of How To Nail An Alien, Unforgettable‘s Christina Hodson, Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand / The Incredible Hulk), Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down), Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Hibernation) and Steven DeKnight of the Daredevil TV series.

HOW TO: Change system date in OS X ...

The most recent offering from the multi-billion dollar franchise, Transformers: Age of Extinction proved that the series hadn’t lost any steam by grossing over $1 billion in the box office, despite a new cast of humans and an unimpressive critical reception similar to its predecessors. With Michael Bay remaining at the helm and a clearer story path written by some of Hollywood’s most accomplished scribes, perhaps the series could add some much needed plot to the already visually impressive action-fests.
