Remastered Cult Classic Pathologic Released Today

Ten years after its initial release, Russian psychological horror game Pathologic Classic HD has been remastered and released for a worldwide audience on October 29. Ice-Pick Lodge’s debut game has been completely remastered with updated graphics and newly translated dialogue, and is available now for PC on Steam, GOG.com and Humble Store.

Pathologic Classic HD aims to be an unforgettable oddity of psychological survival in a plague-stricken town, where you can essentially choose your own adventure through the dark journey. You traverse through the remote town, built upon old tanneries and butcheries, just as a mysterious and deadly disease breaks out.

Pathologic Classic HD offers three characters to provide a different individual experience. An educated doctor, The Bachelor, is sent to investigate, but he is not alone. One of the volunteers, The Changeling, is a strange girl who believes she can heal with her hands, and the other, The Haruspex, is a talented amateur who’s fond of experimental surgery.

Initially released on June 9, 2005 to the Russian Commonwealth States — and a year later for the rest of Europe — Pathologic has reached world wide cult status despite a limited initial audience. The PC game was critically acclaimed in its home country of Russia, winning five major awards.

A successful Kickstarter campaign was launched near the end of 2014 for a complete remake of the game, which was earned $333,127 of its original goal of $250,000. The official remake is set to be released in the fall of 2016 and will be available on consoles as well as PC.

If you want to know more about the game, we here at MOARGeek have you covered, as a review for Pathologic HD is coming soon.
