Design

Design of Bluetooth speakers aren’t really an issue for me since they all look nice and whatnot, but looking at Hercules, you can see that it has a really cool design. There really isn’t a front or back on the speaker as all the ports and buttons are on the sides due to the triangular shape. I wasn’t really sure which was the left or right side, but either way, one side is home to the power button, charging port, and AUX port. They are hidden so no water or dust is able to get through the sealed cap. Even if it water or dust do get passed the seal, it shouldn’t reach anything as the power button and more are further inside the speaker. The cap itself had a hook on it, so it can be easily removed.

On the other side is a Bluetooth button, two LED lights (one for low battery and the other for being paired through Bluetooth), and the volume up and volume down buttons. The bottom has a screw in it that does come undone so you can attach it to a mount for your bike or just have the screw stay there and let the speaker lay down or stand up. I’m not going to lie, I enjoyed the screw thread being in the speaker because it allowed it to spin on the table. The little things. There are two holes close to the screw thread that is for the wrist strap piece that also comes in the box. The ends are rubberized to ensure shock resistance from any sort of fall.

HOW TO: Change system date in OS X ...

Ease of Use

My unit had no charge to it, so the first thing I did was let it charge before use, which of course was what you were supposed to do first before getting started with pairing. Once charged, turning on the speaker automatically had it ready to pair. All that was next was to pair it with my phone, which was simple too. Other than that, there wasn’t much to it.

Speakers

With any Bluetooth speaker I receive, I tend to start out with a few songs to test how the bass and treble sound then after that I just start playing music. Hercules was evenly balanced when it came to bass and treble while songs were crisp. No complaints here.

Battery Life

Standard charging time is three hours, but who really wants to wait that long for a speaker to charge? No one, but if you’re going to maximize playback hours you’ll want to let it charge for that time. Trust me, you’ll need it. Same as I always do with my wireless speaker reviews is listen to music for x amount of hours each day until the unit runs out of juice and then accumulate the hours played. Hercules states the speaker can play back music for 12+ hours and I was able to get a little over 12 hours. Excellent job Hercules!

Price/Value

Coming in at a price of $54.99, you’re still under that $100 mark that won’t break the bank by purchasing this Bluetooth speaker from Hercules.

Wrap Up

For a small little Bluetooth speaker, it looks like this is going to be your choice if you’re one to constantly be outdoors whether you’re hiking, biking, or skateboarding.
