Creed Director Ryan Coogler To Potentially Direct Marvel’s Black Panther

Following the incredible continued success of his latest film Creed, Ryan Coogler is currently in talks with Marvel Studios to direct the upcoming Black Panther film. The movie, being produced by Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige and starring Get On Up’s Chadwick Boseman, is scheduled to be released February 16, 2018.

Coogler’s star in Hollywood is currently shining as bright as anyone else’s right now, with his most recent film Creed being universally praised by fans and critics. Having written and directed two critically acclaimed feature films before reaching the tender age of 30, the other film being 2013’s Sundance Film Festival Award Winning Fruitvale Station, he’s one of the hottest commodities behind the camera today.

Marvel had previously approached him about directing Black Panther earlier this year, but he initially turned it down to focus on continuing his work in post-production on Creed. With that success behind him, it appears that he is once again interested in being at the helm of the cinematic journey to Wakanda.

HOW TO: Change system date in OS X ...

Getting Coogler would not only satisfy fans by letting a young and talented director with a solid track record take control of a franchise, it would also satisfy the calls for diversity in the director’s chair. Fans across the web have made their opinions known that they feel that this franchise should be directed by a person of color, and this would fill that need.

The interest in the Black Panther film could very well be at an all-time high since its official announcement as a part of Marvel’s phase three back in October 2014. Boseman made his first appearance as T’Challa in the trailer for Captain America: Civil War.
